Profitable First, Funded Second: How Victoria Thain Gioia Built Perelel Before Taking Institutional Money
Join us for a conversation with Victoria Thain Gioia, Co-Founder and CEO of Perelel, the first OB/GYN-founded vitamin company offering doctor-formulated, research-backed supplements for every stage of women's hormonal health. Before founding Perelel, Victoria spent her career in investment banking, private equity, and operating roles at The Honest Company, Olive & June, and Carbon38, three of the most recognizable consumer brands in beauty and wellness. That operating background, combined with a personal experience that pointed her toward a real gap in prenatal care, shaped how she built Perelel from the ground up.

Most founders assume they need outside capital to prove their business is real. Victoria Thain Gioia built Perelel to profitability, with revenue doubling year over year, before she ever took a check from an institutional investor.

That operating background, combined with a personal experience that pointed her toward a real gap in prenatal care, shaped how she built Perelel from the ground up.
In this session, we'll break down how Victoria applied what she learned building other people's brands to her own, and how that discipline let her grow Perelel into a profitable business before raising a $27 million round that replaced her early angel investors on her own terms.
In this session, you'll learn:
- What actually carries over from operating inside an established consumer brand to building your own
- How to build toward profitability before you build toward a raise
- What investors look for in a business that doesn't need their money to survive
- How to know when it's time to move from angel investors to institutional capital
- How a personal experience can sharpen an operator's instinct instead of replacing it
- What changes about how you run a company once revenue, not funding, is the proof of concept
Whether you're building your first company or bringing outside operating experience into your own brand for the first time, this conversation will leave you with a clearer sense of what it actually takes to build a business that doesn't need to raise money to prove it works.
